Stars Dancing for HEALS
Started in 2007 and modeled after the hit reality show, “Dancing with the Stars,” Stars Dancing for HEALS features Stars from the community dancing with local ballroom instructors to raise funds for HEALS, Inc. The 20th anniversary gala event will be held on November 12th, at 6:30 in the evening in South Hall II of the Von Braun Center (VBC) for table sponsors and invited guests.
Each Star will collect donations (votes) and corporate sponsorships for HEALS to reach their fundraising goal of $30,000. Every dollar donated to HEALS counts as one vote. The Star who raises the most money (votes) for HEALS wins the “Top Champion for Children” award. Our audience at the VBC will select one Star as the ‘Crowd Favorite’ with their votes on the night of the event. You have the opportunity to vote online now for your favorite! This is our 18th Annual event and we have a wonderful group of enthusiastic Stars brave enough to fund-raise and dance in support of the children at HEALS!
Who Are Our Stars?
Since 2007, HEALS has had the opportunity to work with many individuals from different areas of the community. From doctors, dentists, television news anchors, small business owners and civic volunteers, to school principals, our Stars have come from all walks of life to support HEALS! Select each Star name above to learn about this year’s Stars.
Who Are The Professional Dancers?
This year, professional dance instruction is provided by select instructors from the community along with instructors from Fred Astaire Studio Huntsville, Baila Huntsville, and Alamabo. Each Star is paired with a local, professional dance instructor to prepare one dance for the night of the event. They receive approximately 20 hours in lessons to prepare for the dance.
HEALS appreciates the willingness of the Stars and Instructors to step into the spotlight to benefit the children we serve at our school-based health care clinics. Without their support and enthusiasm, this event would not be possible. Learn more about the Instructors.

History of Stars Dancing
In 2007, the first Stars Dancing for HEALS event was held at the Crossroads Music Hall downtown Huntsville, raising over $60,000 for the organization. Seven “stars” from the community worked with local professional studios for three months to prepare for their debut performance the night of the event.
Due to its great success and a sold out crowd in the first year, the event was moved to Monaco Pictures at Bridge Street in 2008.· Located in the two-story ballroom combining the lobby, Scene Lounge, and the Privé VIP area, seven new Stars prepared for another great night of dancing. Owing to the prestigious location, food and beverages, the event stayed at Monaco Pictures through 2015, featuring eight Stars for many years in a row.
Stars Dancing
In 2016, Stars Dancing for HEALS moved to the Von Braun Center for the 10th Anniversary Celebration! We are now going on our 20th Anniversary event!
After such a wonderful experience at the VBC North Hall, Stars Dancing for HEALS returned in 2017, and for the first time, was held on a Thursday night! In 2018, we had our first year of 9 Stars and our first opening dance number! Get ready for 2026 with 9 more amazing community Stars! The event offers a little something for everyone; great music, dancing, and a fun social atmosphere with an old Hollywood feel.

Stars Event Details
Know Before You Go
A few helpful details to make sure you are ready for an unforgettable evening supporting children’s medical, dental, and vision care.
Attire
Creative cocktail attire tends to have a little more pizzazz or an element of flashiness, whether that be sequin, ruffles, or a surprising color and/or pattern.
This is not a black tie or formal event. We highly encourage you to have fun with your wardrobe, but don’t overthink it. Sequin is always acceptable at our event. Be sure to wear something you can dance in.
A complimentary coat check service will be available.
Food & Beverage
There will be various tapas stations as well as a dessert bar, wine and cocktail bar, bourbon bar, and so much more.
Even though this is not a traditional sit-down dinner, we promise you won’t go home hungry or thirsty.
Parking
Parking at the VBC is $15. Each area offers accessible parking.
Please give yourself enough time to find parking, especially when there are typically multiple events taking place downtown.
Part of the Solution
We remove barriers and deliver the medical, dental, and vision care every child deserves, so they can grow healthy, confident, and ready for the future.
